October 2, 2023 (JUBA) – South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir on Monday fired the Central Bank governor and deputies, naming successors for the posts. In a decree on South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation (SSBC), Kiir sacked Central Bank governor Johnny Ohisa Damian, replacing him with Dr. James Alic Garang. The presidential decree also affected First Deputy Governor of the Central Bank, Addis Ababa Othow and Second Deputy Governor John Maciek Acuoth, who were succeeded by Samuel Yanga Mikaya and Nyiel Gordon Kuol respectively.
