game, 33-32, against the Chiefs on Saturday in Kansas City.

Most of the Browns' starters on offense and defense saw action in Saturday's first quarter, which saw Cleveland race out to a 22-3 lead thanks to big plays from the offense and defense.

The Browns' defense has produced points in three straight games, a significant improvement from last year when they did it just twice in 17 games. Saturday's game was their biggest contribution yet, as the unit scored two touchdowns in the first half via interceptions.

S Juan Thornhill, who spent the first four years of his career with the Chiefs, showed impeccable timing when he intercepted a pass from Shane Buechele in the first quarter and returned it for 34 yards for a touchdown. Rookie CB Caleb Biggers added a pick-6 of his own at the end of the first half when TE Matt Bushman failed to catch the ball, popping it in the air and allowing Biggers to run it back 27 yards for the score.

“People gave me pats on the back, but I hate pity," said York, who also missed an extra point Saturday and whose job may be in jeopardy. “I know how good I am and it's been the most frustrating thing the last month, struggling with that."

The Browns then had an opportunity to connect on a field goal of their own just a few moments later, but Hoskins blocked York's kick and thwarted any chance of a Cleveland comeback.

It all provided for an exciting and productive afternoon of football that concluded the preseason on a positive note.

Their next drive could have turned sour again with another botched handoff between Watson and Wilkins on the opening play of the drive, but the running back was able to get the ball back. That drive would lead to another score, and the biggest play came when Watson found Amari Cooper wide-open for a 53-yard gain after evading pressure. That wrapped things up for the mostly starting offense, with a mix of big plays and errors with Watson on the field.

Brett Veach and his peers to finalize a roster to carry into the team's season-opening contest against the Detroit Lions. The NFL's mandatory roster cutdown deadline is on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. ET, which doesn't leave the Chiefs a ton of time to trim all the way down to 53 players and a 16-man practice squad. Some tough decisions will be made in the near future, and those may be even more stressful than the games themselves.
