Diablo 4 patch notes for Season of the Malignant have arrived, and they are insanely long. My job here today is going to be to try to summarize the highlights for you here in case you don’t want to read 6,600 words, but even this is going to be pretty long as a result. As expecting, there are huge nerfs and buffs across all classes, plus new Uniques and Aspects that are live now, even ahead of season 1.
Diablo 4’s Update 1.1.0a has been released, coinciding with the launch of its first season. Season of the Malignant will be upon players in just a couple days, but the update sets the stage with a multitude of buffs, nerfs, bug fixes, quality-of-life updates, and much more. Barbarian Hammer of the Ancients, Druid Werewolf Shred, Necromancer Bone Spear and Sorcerer Ice Shard have all been hit pretty hard. However, in most classes it’s about 90-95% buffs to other skills compared to nerfs. The bigger nerfs come to neutral things like Vulnerable and Critical Hit damage.
Some of the bigger general changes coming in Diablo 4’s latest patch (version 1.1.0a on both console and PC) include that Altar of Lilith unlocks and map discovery are now account-wide. World Tier rewards and difficulties have also been adjusted; tier 2 will offer players more gold and more drops from enemies, while monster scaling in tiers 3 and 4 have been adjusted.
With significant nerfs to Hammer of the Ancients, Cooldown Reduction, Critical Strike, and Vulnerable Damage, plenty of Barbarian endgame builds have been obliterated as far as the Eternal Realm is concerned. Though it remains to be seen if Malignant Hearts will mend the new weaknesses of the Barbarian class, this is no doubt a huge blow to Diablo 4 players who were hoping to main the most iconic class of the franchise. New Unique items and Legendary Aspects have been discovered in Sanctuary. Use them to enhance your characters in the Eternal or Seasonal Realm. These Unique items can be obtained from World Tier IV and the Legendary Aspects can be obtained from any World Tier.
