Tewkesbury School yesterday, Monday, 10 July, the Leader of the Council, Richard Stanley, says:

“The news of this incident has come as a huge shock to everyone, and our thoughts are with the injured teacher, his family, teachers and pupils and the local community.

The police are carrying out a full investigation, and agencies are working together to ensure support is provided to anyone who needs it.

We understand that the pupil who carried out the attack has been arrested and is in police custody. We don’t have any further details about what happened – this is a live police incident. It's important to allow the police to carry out their investigation.

The impact on staff and pupils at the school will no doubt be significant, and we are offering our support to partner agencies, including Young Gloucestershire, which is opening its hub for young people and parents to go for support and a safe space to congregate.

Assistant Chief Constable Richard Ocone said: “It was initially thought that the suspect had fled the scene and hidden himself within the school grounds.

“Our officers, including specialist armed police, attended and carried out a thorough search. This search was both complex and meticulous in nature as we sought to ensure there were no further injured parties as well as seeking the arrest of the suspect.”

Daniel said his daughter video called him and he could see her teacher "supporting the whole class".

"The teacher sat right by the door. He barricaded the door, put some boxes there and kept everyone cool even though he must have been scared himself," he added.

Pupils who have their parents' consent to leave the school early were allowed to leave the building from lunchtime, a statement on the school website said.

The academy was locked down and two neighbouring schools were also asked to shut their doors as a “precaution”, Assistant Chief Constable Richard Ocone of Gloucestershire Police said. A teenager, from Tewkesbury, allegedly fled the scene and was arrested by armed officers in the nearby Stoke Orchard area at 11am.

A knife has been recovered. The teacher remains in hospital in a stable condition, police said.

If a replacement flight on the day is not possible, or you just do not want it, the next step is to get a refund or a voucher.

CAA) regulator say that refunds should be given as cash.

But airlines including easyJet also give vouchers, which can be used on any easyJet flight within 12 months.
