Smith County Rescue Squad receives grant from Fire Marshal’s Office ...United Arab Emirates

On January 9th of this year, the Tennessee Fire Marshal’s Office announced a grant program for Tennessee Rescue Squads.  Smith County Rescue submitted an application and on March 24th received a letter of Notice Of Intent To Award.  They were 1 of 69 agencies to receive funding.  The squad will receive $12,558 that will go towards updating one set of its two sets of airbags that are currently 20 years old.  Airbags are used to lift vehicles, farm equipment or semis to free patients that may be trapped.   In 2022, the squad was awarded a $340,000 Community Development Block Grant to purchase a new extrication truck & extrication equipment.  This unit will be placed in Gordonsville an
