Back in the mid-1960s — perhaps spurred by the unexpected success of the Beatles’ two films, A Hard Day’s Night and Help! — the producers of an upcoming, youth-oriented film entitled The Graduate decided to hire the then-popular duo, Simon and Garfunkel, to provide the musical track for the film. (Actually, if you go through the musical canon of Simon and Garfunkel, Paul Simon wrote almost all the songs; Art Garfunkel was credited on only one.)
