A United States drone strike has killed the leader of al-Qaeda, Ayman Al-Zawahiri, in Afghanistan, confirmed US President Joe Biden on Monday, 1 August in a speech from the White House. Al-Zawahiri was killed in a precision strike “that would remove him from the battlefield, once and for all,” Biden said.
