At 3:16 this afternoon, Amtrak’s new Berkshire Flyer is due to depart Penn Station heading for Pittsfield in western Massachusetts. It’s the second run of this once-a-week temporary summer service, with a Sunday afternoon return. It also marks the first time in Amtrak’s half-century that the railroad is directly connecting the two cities, Lincoln Center to Tanglewood.
