As someone who works in a drop-in center that has seen an increase in clients since the Subway Safety Plan was implemented, I was happy to see that Mayor Adams’ budget included funding for additional Safe Haven and stabilization beds. But I was deeply troubled to learn he didn’t include a cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) for workers like me, who are putting in long hours for very little pay to provide the much-needed services at programs that serve unhoused New Yorkers.
