The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) announced the closure of several branches of a restaurant in different areas for two weeks each, due to violation of Article No. (10) of Law No. (8) of 2008 regarding Consumer Protection. The violation was due to failure to comply with the principles and controls of price increases. The restaurant branches increased their prices on food delivery platforms, thereby deviating from the restaurant menu price and limiting consumers’ choices. The closures come as part of the intensive inspection campaigns carried out by MoCI to monitor markets and commercial activities in the country, with the aim of controlling prices and uncovering abuses and fraud
