Pinpoint Weather Alert issued Monday, isolated strong storms with flood watches for mountain counties

(PINPOINT WEATHER) -- Good evening and happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there!

After a cloudy day across the Carolinas, we are expecting a significant amount of rain to move into the region overnight and continue all day long on Monday with some isolated strong storms as well. After more rain on Tuesday, we should dry out with warmer temperatures for the mid-week as well. Later in the week warmer temperatures along with some isolated thunderstorms as well.

As for tonight and your Monday, rain and storms will move in later this evening and then continue essentially all night and throughout the day on Monday. Overnight lows tonight will be in the low to mid-60s to go along with the rain. Monday appears to be a near washout across the Carolinas along with some isolated strong thunderstorms as well. There is some flooding concern, especially up in the mountains as the rain and thunderstorms move through. Highs on Monday will be around the 70-degree mark.

Tuesday, more showers and storms are expected across the region, though not quite to the extent of what we will see on Monday as moisture from the Gulf continues to plow through the region.

Wednesday we should dry out with just the slight chance of a shower possible during the afternoon before sunny weather moves in for Thursday. Temperatures on Thursday will also start to move up noticeably with temperatures returning to the low to mid-80s.

Heading into the weekend, some isolated showers and storms are possible on Friday and Saturday along with some warm temperatures with highs in the 80s.

For championship Sunday at Quail Hollow, we should have sunny and warm weather with highs that will be in the upper 80s.

In the meantime, get ready to get wet on Monday! Have a great week!
