San Gabriel Academy (15-10) at Brea Olinda (18-12), Wednesday, 6 p.m.
Outlook: Brea Olinda is playing in a CIF Southern Section boys volleyball final for the first time. The Wildcats finished third in the five-team Freeway League with a 5-3 league record. In the playoffs, the Wildcats swept Lawndale, Vasquez and Lakewood in three sets before beating San Jacinto in the semifinals in four sets, 18-25, 25-20, 25-19, 25-19. Brea’s top players are junior setter Kaeden Vasquez, senior outside hitter CJ Villaverde, junior middle blocker Mason del Rosario and freshman libero Sean Chen. San Gabriel Academy finished fourth in the four-team San Joaquin League (2-6 league record), that includes Orange County teams Samueli Academy, Capistrano Valley Christian and Pacifica Christian. In the playoffs, San Gabriel Academy defeated Gabrielino, Aquinas, Jurupa Valley and Brentwood. The CIF-SS Division 7 champion advances to the CIF Southern California Regional playoffs that begin May 20.
